Spartan Classroom Pride: Meet Bixby's Teachers of the Year

By BixbyMerch.com · September 21, 2026

Good morning, Bixby. The best Spartan story on the board this morning is not a scoreboard. It is the district saying thank you out loud to the teachers who hold this town together on ordinary Tuesdays.

Bixby Public Schools has been spotlighting campus Teachers of the Year across the district. A few of the named honorees on bixbyps.org/news:

  • Mr. Blane Burge, Bixby High School — 14th year teaching, 4th at BHS; AP Precalculus and AP Calculus AB/BC, with the highest AP pass rate in the AP math department.
  • Mrs. Jennifer Jones, Bixby East Elementary — honored for intentionality and care with students.
  • Mrs. Megan Scheinkoenig, Bixby West Elementary — special education, fifth year in the classroom.
  • Mrs. Kim Kirk, Bixby Central Intermediate — 26th year; 4th–6th grade special education.
  • Mrs. Terri Sloan, Bixby 9th Grade Center — 35 years in education; geometry.
  • Mr. Zach Roberts, Bixby North Intermediate — math teacher known for patience and passion.
  • Mrs. Amanda Rutherford, Bixby Central Elementary — 20th year, celebrated for inspiring students kindly.
  • Mrs. Kasbaum, Bixby North Elementary — 25 years, first grade.
  • Also named on the district news list: Mrs. Cogan (Alternative Education), Mrs. Jamie Hancock (West Intermediate), and Mrs. Meredith Fuller (Bixby Middle School).

Classroom pride has a funding story beside it. The Bixby Educational Endowment Foundation (BEEF) awarded about $122,600 to 34 Class of 2026 seniors in its 25th annual scholarship program, and has put $127K+ into 2025–26 teacher grants. That is neighbors investing in kids and teachers locally (scholarships, teacher grants).

For a culture-and-kids moment, Bixby North Elementary hosted a Hispanic Heritage Month Ballet Folklorico and Mariachi performance. And tomorrow (Tue Sep 22) the Bixby Chamber’s Rooted & Rising Women’s Leadership Conference runs 9 AM–2 PM if you are looking for a community calendar add.

If you want to show up for a teacher or staff member this week, shop the Teachers collection and wear the red for the people who show up for Bixby’s kids when nobody is keeping score.
