Pride of Bixby wins Renegade Review grand championship

TULSA | The Pride of Bixby Marching Band is the 2026 Renegade Review grand champion.

Bixby won finals at the 43rd Renegade Review on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Union High School's Tuttle Stadium, scoring 84.200 with its show "One of One," according to results posted by OK Marching and Oklahoma Sports + Marching Arts Media. Host Union Bands congratulated Bixby High School as its 2026 Grand Champion.

A finish decided by fifteen hundredths

It could hardly have been closer. Owasso placed second in finals at 84.050, and Blue Springs South of Missouri was third at 83.900. Southmoore (81.650) and Jenks (81.300) rounded out the top five in a 12-band finals field.

The day started with 24 bands from Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas. In the morning prelims, Bixby placed second in Class AAAA at 83.475, behind Owasso. The Spartans then added about three quarters of a point at night to move from second to first.

It is the Pride's second grand championship this fall. Two weeks earlier, Bixby was named Owasso Invitational Grand Champion with a 79.625 in prelims after storms canceled the evening finals, according to the Bixby Fine Arts Monthly.

Music and percussion awards

Bixby also won two of the five finals caption awards: Outstanding Music Performance and Outstanding Percussion. Owasso took Outstanding Visual Performance, and Blue Springs South won Outstanding General Effect and Outstanding Color Guard.

Union Bands runs Renegade Review in a Bands of America format, with judges drawn from national marching and drum corps circuits, according to the event's general information page. Winning a panel like that, against this field, is a big night for a program.

What's next for the Pride of Bixby

The fall run is not done. The band's events calendar lists the St. Louis Super Regional on Oct. 23 to 25, followed by the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association state contest on Saturday, Oct. 31, at Broken Arrow High School. We mapped out the whole stretch in our road to state preview.

Congratulations to the students, directors, staff and band families who made Saturday happen. The hours at summer camp and on the practice field showed.
