Bixby Spartans Start 3-0: Defense Delivers in Rivalry Win Over Jenks

By BixbyMerch.com · September 19, 2026

Friday night football in Bixby still feels like the whole town is in on the same secret: when the Spartans take the field, something special is possible. This season is already proving the point. After three weeks, Bixby High School football sits 3-0, capped by a hard-fought 13-6 defensive win over longtime rival Jenks on September 11, 2026.

That result was not a shootout. It was a statement. In a FOX23 Game of the Week matchup, the Spartans leaned on grit, field position, and a defense that refused to give Jenks room to breathe. Rivalry games rarely look pretty on the scoreboard, and this one was classic Bixby: protect the house, finish drives when it counts, and walk off with another win in the ledger.

Building the early run

The path to 3-0 started with fireworks and finished with toughness.

  • August 28: Bixby opened on the road against Owasso (a rematch of last December's Class 6A-I state championship) and held on 35-27.
  • September 4: The Spartans rolled past Stillwater 56-28 in a battle of highly ranked teams.
  • September 11: Against Jenks, Bixby won the way champions often do in September: with defense, composure, and just enough offense to seal it, 13-6.

Put together, that early slate is exactly what Spartan fans hope to see from a program chasing history. Bixby enters 2026 as the defending Class 6A-I champion after a perfect 13-0 2025 season and an eighth consecutive state title, earned with a 31-17 win over Owasso in Edmond last December. Local coverage from News On 6 and News 9 captured the moment: another gold ball, another undefeated campaign, and another reminder that Bixby football has become the standard in Oklahoma's largest classification.

Why this stretch matters for Bixby

Winning early does more than pad a record. It sets a tone for locker rooms, band sections, youth leagues, and Friday night parking lots all over town. Families plan weekends around the schedule. Students wear green and black to school on game day. Local businesses feel the buzz. A 3-0 start (especially with wins over Owasso, Stillwater, and Jenks) tells the community that the standard is still the standard.

It also keeps the bigger picture in view. After eight straight titles, the 2026 Spartans are already being measured against the next milestone: a ninth consecutive championship run. That is an extraordinary bar. Reaching it will take the same mix of talent, coaching continuity under Loren Montgomery's staff, and town-wide support that has defined this era.
