Bye Week Focus: 3-0 Bixby Spartans Prepare for Mustang on Sep 25

By BixbyMerch.com · September 20, 2026

Bye weeks are rare gifts in a championship chase. After opening 3-0 with wins over Owasso, Stillwater, and Jenks, the Bixby Spartans get an extra week of prep before district football begins. Next up: Mustang on Friday, September 25, at 7:00 PM (away).

MaxPreps lists Bixby at 3-0, Oklahoma Rank No. 1, and a three-game winning streak. The early slate already included a road win at Owasso (35-27), a home statement over Stillwater (56-28), and a defensive rivalry win over Jenks (13-6) in the FOX23 Game of the Week.

Why Mustang matters

September 25 is more than another Friday night. It is Bixby's district opener on the MaxPreps / 6A-I District 1 slate. The Spartans enter undefeated after a bye, which means the focus shifts from surviving early non-conference heat to building the kind of weekly consistency that title runs require.

Public schedules from MaxPreps, Oklahoma Prep Football, and Bixby Athletics all align on the Mustang date and time. After that, Westmoore (home, Oct 2) and Edmond Memorial (away, Oct 9) keep the district gauntlet moving.

Town energy during the bye

A quiet football Friday still belongs to Bixby. Youth leagues, band practices, volleyball nights, and weekend errands all carry the same green-and-black thread. Bye weeks are when families rest, coaches install, and fans reload for the next parking-lot buzz.
